How to Play

Draw rectangles. Match the numbers. Fill the grid.

The Rules

  1. 1Each number on the grid is a clue.
  2. 2The number tells you the area of its rectangle — the count of cells it must cover.
  3. 3Drag across the grid to draw a rectangle.
  4. 4Each rectangle must contain exactly one number.
  5. 5The rectangle's area must equal that number.
  6. 6Fill the entire grid with non-overlapping rectangles to solve the puzzle.
  7. 7Double-click or double-tap a filled rectangle to remove it.

A few quick examples of how rectangles work.

Numbers show area

A 6 can be a 1×6, 2×3, 3×2, or 6×1 rectangle. Here it fills a 3×2 shape — 6 cells total.

One clue per rectangle

Each rectangle must contain exactly one number.

Fill every cell

The puzzle is solved when every cell belongs to a valid rectangle. This 4×4 board is fully covered — five differently-sized rectangles, each containing exactly one clue.

Controls

DragClick and drag across cells to draw a rectangle.
Double-click / tapRemove a filled rectangle from the grid.
UndoReverse your last placed or removed rectangle.
ClearRemove all rectangles you have placed so far.
RestartReset the puzzle completely back to its starting state.

Daily Results

  1. Gridlock has daily puzzles for Easy, Medium, and Hard.
  2. Your first solve for each daily puzzle is saved as your official result.
  3. Replaying a completed puzzle does not change your official time or move count.
  4. The Calendar tracks your progress — three dots on a day mean all three difficulties solved.

Complete Easy, Medium, and Hard on the same day to earn a Daily Sweep. Your Calendar will show three filled dots for that date.
